ABOUT THE BPI
Quantifying performance.
The Brain Performance Index (BPI) was designed by psychologists to measure the characteristics that drive performance: how people regulate emotions, handle pressure, sustain effort, prepare, understand themselves, work in teams, and make decisions. We built it for athletes, students, service members, professionals, and individuals who want a clear, repeatable measure of how they perform.
DESIGNED BY PSYCHOLOGISTS
Clinical expertise, built for real life.
The BPI is grounded in established research on human performance and offered in partnership with Genesis Brain Institute, Tampa, Florida.
Fabian Consbruck, Psy.D.
Founder and CEO · Clinical lead
Licensed clinical psychologist with 18 years of practice and graduate training in neuropsychology at the Florida Institute of Technology. Leads the clinical design of the BPI. U.S. Air Force veteran.
José E. Cabrera
Director of Regulatory and Clinical Affairs

FOR SPORTS TEAMS
The BPI for sports teams.
See how each athlete handles pressure, prepares, and works with teammates, and track change across a season.
What the BPI shows coaches
- Performance under pressure: Emotional Regulation and Pressure Control scores.
- Training habits: Grit / Persistence and Preparation scores.
- Team play: Team Functioning and Decision-Making scores.
How teams use it
- Measure in preseason, then re-measure at midseason or postseason.
- Give coaches and athletes a shared language for mental performance.
- Point each athlete to the specific areas to work on.
FOR ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS
The BPI for schools and universities.
Measure the performance characteristics behind student success, across a class, a grade, or a campus.
What the BPI shows educators
- How students manage emotions and perform under pressure, such as during exams.
- How consistently students sustain effort and prepare.
- How students judge their own strengths, work in teams, and make decisions.
How institutions use it
- Measure at the start of a term or school year, then re-measure at the end.
- Use results to plan student support and programming.
- Give every student an individual report with specific next steps.
Which version: Youth BPI for students in grades 6-12. The student and a parent each complete it, and the report is sent to the parent. Adult BPI for college and university students 18 and older.
The BPI is not an academic, developmental, or clinical assessment. It does not replace school psychological or counseling services.
FOR THE MILITARY
The BPI for military units and programs.
Measure performance under pressure, discipline, and team functioning in service members, and track change across training.
What the BPI shows leaders
- Performance under pressure: Emotional Regulation and Pressure Control scores.
- Discipline: Grit / Persistence and Preparation scores.
- Unit performance: Team Functioning and Decision-Making scores.
How programs use it
- Measure at the start of a training cycle or program, then re-measure at the end.
- Give each service member an individual report with specific next steps.
- Support performance and resilience programming with consistent, repeatable measurement.
Which version: The Adult BPI, a self-report assessment with built-in validity scales.
Built by veterans: Fabian Consbruck, Psy.D., served in the U.S. Air Force. José E. Cabrera served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic with the 101st Airborne Division.
The BPI is not a fitness-for-duty, clinical, or diagnostic evaluation.
